The belt conveyor discharge car is a type of unloading device that allows material to be discharged at any point along the horizontal section of the conveyor, making it convenient for overall material distribution. Equipped with steel rails, it can be easily moved, enabling either dual-side unloading or single-side unloading as needed. Depending on specific requirements, it can be custom-designed into three-way configurations (discharging from the middle and both sides simultaneously—though not allowing simultaneous discharge from the middle and sides), two-way configurations (discharging from both sides or from the middle combined with one side), or single-side unloading. When paired with the main belt conveyor, these discharge cars are available in TD75 and DTIIA models.

A discharge car is a mechanical device designed for use in strip-shaped material yards, enabling material to be unloaded at any point along a belt conveyor. Typically, the belt conveyors used with this equipment are installed atop elevated corridors, which is why it’s also commonly referred to as a "sky crane stacker." The discharge car primarily consists of components such as the frame, roller assemblies, idler assemblies, drive mechanism, hopper, ladder, and guardrails.

The discharge car is driven by an onboard drive mechanism that moves the traveling wheels, causing the vehicle body to reciprocate along the tracks mounted on the conveyor frame (or track). Once the material transported by the conveyor reaches the position of the discharge car, it falls into the discharge hopper located on the vehicle body. This allows the discharge car to unload materials at any point along the middle section of the conveyor, and the typical unloading cross-section is triangular.

The discharge carts come in two types: light-duty and heavy-duty. The light-duty discharge cart is suitable for materials with a bulk density of less than 1800/m³. ³ The material is suitable for broadband ranging from 500 to 14 mm; the heavy-duty unloading vehicle is designed for materials with a bulk density of ≥2500 kg/m³. ³ The material is suitable for bandwidths ranging from 800 to 1600 mm.

The hoppers of unloading cars typically come in three types: single-side discharge, double-side discharge, and three-way discharge.

The discharge car features a simple structure, reliable performance, easy operation, convenient maintenance, and low maintenance costs. When equipped with dust removal systems and telescopic rollers, these discharge cars also boast excellent environmental benefits, making them widely used in industries such as mining, power generation, metallurgy, ports, coal, and building materials. At port terminals, discharge cars are commonly employed in unloading operations for materials like yellow sand and gravel from ships. To enhance the width and capacity of material piles, equipment manufacturers have developed discharge cars equipped with cantilever arms—typically by adding a short conveyor perpendicular to the main feeding conveyor. Materials are then transferred via a funnel onto this shorter conveyor for efficient unloading.
